The buzz around “Hera Pheri 3” has been huge, fans have been waiting for years. But the project is stuck in a loop of delays and vague updates from the lead actor himself, Akshay Kumar. He has said it multiple times, “soon” but here we are, no progress or official promo in sight.

Fans of the very popular “Hera Pheri” series have been waiting for what seems like forever for the third part. Still Akshay Kumar’s repeated assurances that “Hera Pheri 3” will go on floor soon have been just words.

Since the last one, it’s been years since we heard of Raju, Shyam and Babu Bhaiya and now we are almost frustrated.

One can’t help but wonder if the delay is more than just logistical issues. There was a teaser promo featuring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty which was shot but never released. Such setbacks kill the credibility of future promises made by the team.

The other reason is time waits for no one. Akshay Kumar is now 60 and although he has kept the athleticism and versatility, the body comedy of “Hera Pheri” may not fit him like it did 20 years ago.

The charm and spontaneity at the core of their characters from early 2000s may look artificial or forced in the absence of same energy and chemistry.

The biggest risk is that new generation will never relate to the humour or plot as much as the original audience did. Nostalgia has a deadline without new and exciting elements.

Even the die-hard fans are getting beaten up with the delays and questioning the project itself and thereby killing the hope of the franchise loving generations.

Makers need to either deliver or come out clean about the obstacles instead of keeping the audience in the dark.
