Anurag Kashyap Slams Netflix India

Anurag Kashyap recently took to social media to praise Adolescence, a new show on Netflix, which premiered on March 13, 2025. Apart from appreciating the series, Anurag also criticized Netflix India for not allowing enough creative freedom to Indian filmmakers to bring similar content.

Anurag praised the work of the producers and cast members who were involved with the show in the caption. He even appreciated the work of cinematographer Matthew Lewis, adding that it needs a lot of hard work to create such shows.

However, Anurag added a lengthy comment below his post, where he referred to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria by calling Netflix India a sh*t show.

Anurag claimed that if Ted and Bela received a narration of Adolescence, they would have changed it into a film of 90 minutes.

He seemingly hinted at the fact that Netflix India was full of dishonest and morally corrupt people, adding that the platform aims to increase subscriptions in India.

The popular director also wrote that he was jealous of shows like Adolescence and that he was expecting Netflix India to learn something from it.

Notably, Anurag has been associated with Netflix for a long time and his show Sacred Games was also successful among Indian audiences.

While a third season of the show has not happened so far, it seems like Anurag’s return to Netflix might help to bring better content.

Anurag’s films have not worked on the big screen for some time and considering his flawlessness as a director, it seems like he needs to prepare a script at the level of Sacred Games if he is genuinely interested in improving the standard of OTT content in India.
