
After the failure of this last film, Baby John, Varun Dhawan is gearing up to be part of India’s largest war film, Border 2.
Now, according to the latest reports, the actor is going to play the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the same film. For the unversed, the late Paramveer Chakra Awardee played a key role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Here’s what a source said, “Apart from holding look sessions with designer Sheetal Sharma, Varun met Indian officers, celebrated Army Day with them and tried to gain a deeper understanding of their lives.”
“Varun’s scenes will begin with his departure from Sisana village in Haryana, joining the army, to his journey in the Indo-Pak war,” stated the same source.

The actor, who has been a part of films like Student of the Year and Badlapur, is going through a tough fitness regime to prepare himself for the role in Border 2.
His fitness regimen reportedly includes an intense three-hour daily routine of cardio and weight training. It is later followed by specialized drills in handling firearms and ammunition.

Speaking about Border 2, it is touted to be the biggest war film in India, and also features Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and others in major roles. It will be directed by Anurag Singh, who has previously helmed films like Kesari and Punjab 1984. If well-made, Border 2 also has the potential to become a 1000 crore film!
Varun Dhawan has given only a few good performances like Badlapur and October. In other films, he has been mostly considered cringe with an image of a comedy actor. However, there’s no denying that Varun has talent. But will people accept him in a real-life hero’s role in Border 2? That remains a question.
