In the constantly changing landscape of Bollywood, the box office war between Akshay Kumar and Kartik Aaryan has been the talk of the town.
Kartik’s latest releases have continued to open stronger, with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 at the forefront in a whopping ₹36 crore. Even his lesser-promoted outings such as Satyaprem Ki Katha and Shehzada opened well, reflecting his increasing popularity among the youth.

Contrarily, Akshay Kumar, who used to rule over the double-digit openers, has felt the decline significantly. His recent release, Kesari 2, opened to a mere ₹7 crore and witnessed a whopping 80% boost on its second Saturday to reach a total of about ₹56.5 crore in nine days.
This, despite an improvement, is expected to be the lifetime collection of the movie at about ₹85-90 crore, which is modest when compared to Akshay’s previous blockbusters.

While Kesari 2 has seen some modest appreciation in metro multiplexes and has enjoyed promotion strategies such as free admissions and corporate reservations, it remains short of the pace.
At the same time, Kartik’s steady and organic box office wins herald an unequivocal shift in viewer taste. The numbers tell us that Kartik Aaryan has certainly left others in the dust in today’s Bollywood box office game.
