Housefull 5 BO Killed by YouTubers

It’s been a week since Housefull 5 hit the theaters, and despite its lukewarm start, the film has now managed to cross Rs 115 crore at the box office domestically.

While it’s still early to call it a hit, given Akshay Kumar’s recent BO track record, this is a relatively decent performance.

With no major clashes for two weeks and ticket prices soaring over Rs 300, the film is expected to wrap up its theatrical run at around Rs 170–180 crore max, barely reaching the semi-hit category.

The audience was loud and clear about their opinions on the film; most of them claimed the film doesn’t even pass as average and ruthlessly trolled it as comedy slop presented with a silver foil.

While these trolls do hold some truth, many YouTubers and franchise fans were upset over the digs the film received. Now, as the film finds its ground, these people are clapping back at reviewers and trolls, stating this is a slap in their faces.

These defenders are accusing audiences of “not understanding comedy” and gaslighting them for not having any idea of how cinema works.

Social media users argue that these voices are trying to salvage a sinking ship just for the sake of pleasing a particular set of audiences. When in reality, everybody knows the comedy fell flat, the plot was nonexistent, and the film is average at best.

This growing trend of blindly defending stars and franchises allows big stars to serve mediocrity on a platter and still get away with it, while the opinions of genuine audiences who paid for a subpar experience get sidelined.
