Mulk was a bold and heartfelt call for sanity.
Bollywood rarely shows this kind of courage.
The film made viewers confront uncomfortable truths and left many nodding in agreement.
Now, Mulk 2 is in the works. But given the current communal climate in India, it’s uncertain whether the sequel will see a peaceful release.
People and groups have become quick to react violently over sensitive matters.
We saw that in the aftermath of Chhaava’s release.
If Mulk 2 does release, the makers are going to need thick skin to handle the backlash it might provoke, that is, if the Central Board of Film Certification even allows the film to be released in the way the creators intended.
