Pushpa 2 The Rule Craze but No Love for Chhaava

Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ seems to be in a tough spot of its own. While the film is getting a good public response from Maharashtra, the rest of India seems to be closing its doors on the film.

Adding fuel to the fire, it seems that many have started criticizing the audience of both North and South India for not showing enough interest in the film.

Had the film got nationwide support in the manner it is getting from Maharashtra, it would have easily collected Rs.40-50 Cr. on its opening day, which is now projected at just Rs.20-25 Cr, according to trade reports.

Many are blaming films like Pushpa 2 for Chhaava not getting the hype it deserves from the North. Some are blaming the audience, saying that they only want to watch ‘mindless masala’ films like Pushpa 2, something that is totally unfair to Allu Arjun’s film.

If the makers of ‘Chhaava’ want their film to be seen nationwide, then instead of blaming another film and the audience, they should focus on making their marketing strong enough that people get attracted to the theatres to watch the film.

History has shown us time and again that regional films with solid storytelling and nationwide hype, like Baahubali, often work wonders in uniting the whole of India into the theatres, north and south regardless.

So it’s high time the makers of Chhaava work to ensure that their marketing in these regions is rock solid instead of blaming the audience and using the success of Pushpa 2 to hide their own shortcomings.
