Dabangg has one of the most iconic item songs, Munni Badnaam. The song was originally supposed to picturize Sonu Sood instead of Salman Khan.
The Fateh actor recently opened up about it.

Sonu Sood talked about how he was offered the role of Chulbul Pandey, which was eventually done by Salman Khan.
Director Abhinav Kashyap was a friend of Sood, who had told the actor that he was writing a cop story while assisting Mani Ratnam. He promised Sood the lead role, which the actor was really excited for.

However, Salman was interested in the part and agreed to do it.
Meanwhile, Sonu Sood was offered the negative role of Chhedi Singh, which he initially turned down. He said he didn’t understand the character, despite Arbaaz Khan and Abhinav Kashyap convincing him that he would be the right fit for it.

While the makers were looking for other roles, something within Sood told him that no one but him would be able to pull off the character.
Eventually, Sood came around and took up the character on a few conditions. He demanded an item song in Dabangg and some changes in the character.
While Farah Khan was choreographing the song, it was Sood who suggested dance steps and moves so that the song was ensured to become a hit.
While the song did become a huge hit, it was unfortunately taken away from Sood and given to Salman, which disheartened the actor immensely.
But Sood was still optimistic about it and said that at least the song became a hit among the audience and that is what matters.
