Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is set to release in a few days. While some fans are excited to finally see something fresh on the big screen, others are busy criticising the film.

Many are unwilling to support the film due to it being a remake. Others are calling Aamir “anti-national” for his delayed response to Operation Sindoor.

However, a section of fans stands firmly by his decision.

Some fans took to social media to express how Aamir likely knew he would face backlash for making Sitaare Zameen Par a remake. His previous film, Laal Singh Chaddha, also a remake of Forrest Gump, was a major box-office failure and drew similar criticism.

Yet, these fans argue that Aamir is a superstar who simply made the film because he wanted to. They believe a true star should pursue projects that speak to them, regardless of public opinion.

Others feel this film could even boost his stardom because of the bold step he’s taken in choosing projects based on personal passion.

On the other hand, some argue that despite Sitaare Zameen Par appearing refreshing and heartwarming, Aamir is wasting his potential by consistently choosing remakes or biopics.

Before Laal Singh Chaddha, he took 4–5 years to return to the screen, and that too with a remake. Now, after another 3-year break, he’s coming back with yet another remake.

To counter this, supporters claim that Aamir simply wants to give back to the industry. They believe he has reached a stage in his career where he prioritises storytelling over box-office success. They see it as brave that he continues to pursue remakes, even after past failures, simply because he believes in the stories.

Aamir clearly has faith in powerful narratives and aims to retell them through an Indian lens—one that emotionally connects with the audience in their own language. However, to remain relevant in today’s ever-evolving industry, he may need to strike a better balance between original stories and remakes.
