
Suriya’s upcoming film Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj and co-starring Pooja Hegde, is now aiming for a wider reach in India.
Pen Studios, led by Dr. Jayantilal Gada, has come on board as the Hindi distributor. This move is intended to improve the film’s visibility in North India, especially since the teaser and trailer haven’t created much buzz.

Retro is jointly produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Creations.
Despite having a solid cast and music by Santhosh Narayanan, the film has struggled to gain hype so far beyond Tamil. With Pen Studios backing the Hindi release, the makers hope it will now get some attention from audiences beyond the South.

However, the buzz for Retro in the Hindi market is currently zero. Pen Studios has had both successes and failures in distributing South Indian films.
While they’ve handled blockbusters like RRR and Jawan, they’ve also been behind pan-India disasters like Kanguva and Indian 2 in Hindi.

Retro is set to release on May 1 and features actors like Jayaram, Joju George, and Shriya Saran. It remains to be seen whether Pen Studios can turn things around and help Retro connect with the pan-India audience.
