After the Bombay High Court agreed February 19 to hear the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) presented by Rashid Khan Pathan on the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, it looks like a new twist may finally be unfolding over this highly disputed issue.
The said PIL is filed to call for a deeper inquiry into the killings of both Disha Salian (SSR’s Manager) and actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

It also demands the arrest and interrogation of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray by the CBI, which adds another layer of controversy to an already complex case.
Thackeray has retaliated with an intervention application, stating the PIL is not maintainable. In his plea, he says state authorities are already dealing with the case and wants the court to hear his side before making any decisions.

It’s been under the spotlight since actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai on June 14, 2020.
Beginning as an ADR by the Mumbai Police, it soon became a full-fledged investigation by the CBI once the allegations of abetment of suicide were given against SSR’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and her family.

In the meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate is probing money laundering charges, and the Narcotics Control Bureau is investigating the drug angle.
Adding to the mystery is Disha Salian’s death, just days before Rajput’s, also under investigation.
The February 19 hearing will decide whether PIL has merit or a fresh inquiry into the matter should be conducted, taking into consideration the objections put forth by Thackeray.
The court’s decision would further shape the course of the case, and the representation of those key figures involved in it.
