Vicky Kaushal Spy Universe

After the box office success of Chhaava, it seems like YRF is planning to bring Vicky Kaushal into its Spy Universe very soon.

According to reports, Vicky is in talks to be part of an upcoming espionage thriller under the YRF Spy Universe franchise.

If this materialises, Kaushal will become the fifth actor in the Spy Universe, joining the ranks of Salman Khan as Tiger, Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan, Hrithik Roshan as Kabir Dhaliwal, and Alia Bhatt as Alpha.

A source revealed that Vicky is excited about joining the franchise. He has already proven his abilities in action-driven dramas, and YRF sees him as a perfect fit for a younger, edgier spy film. The goal is to introduce new energy into the franchise without overlapping with the existing Tiger-Pathaan-Kabir storylines.

The project is expected to begin production in 2026, once a director is finalised.

While the idea might sound interesting, fans believe the franchise has already hit saturation. If the main leading men can’t bring much freshness to the series, they argue, Vicky likely won’t be able to revive it either.

Others feel that at least Vicky is a better choice than Ranbir Kapoor.

Many also think the Spy Universe has become repetitive. They claim all the Spyverse films now feel the same, just a new face playing the hero or the villain. A new actor won’t save the franchise, they say, a better writer will.

Additionally, critics pointed out that Vicky’s performance in Chhaava didn’t showcase exceptional acting range. They argue the film’s success was driven more by religious sentiments than by Vicky’s acting.

It might not be the best move for YRF to keep adding more actors to the franchise. Instead, they should focus on strengthening the current lineup and improving upcoming projects before considering new stars.
