Ajith Kumar Vidaamuyarchi with Lyca Productions Huge Disaster

Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi started well but is now showing worrying signs at the Tamil box office.

According to trade pundits, the film opened with 25.50 crores in Tamil Nadu and grossed 61 crores in its four-day extended weekend. However, the numbers have been on a steady decline since the first day.

Early estimates suggest the film will collect just 4 crores on its first Monday, raising concerns about its long-term box office run.

Adding to its troubles, Vidaamuyarchi is losing screens to holdover releases like Kudumbasthan.

Magizh Thirumeni directed Vidaamuyarchi will struggle to reach the 100-crore mark in Tamil Nadu. Estimates suggest it may end around 95 crores, similar to Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, which was another huge flop.

The film has crossed 100 crores worldwide and may finish around 140 crores, which would be a disastrous result. Ajith’s remuneration alone is around 100-120 crores, as per media reports. The budget of Vidaamuyarchi is around 300 crores, according to Wikipedia.

For Lyca Productions, this is yet another huge blow following Chandramukhi 2, Lal Salaam, Indian 2, and Vettaiyan—all of which have resulted in massive losses of over 50-100 crores each. Vidaamuyarchi is also set to join the list of epic loss-making films. Their worst phase continues.

With this streak of disappointments, all eyes are now on Ajith’s next film, Good Bad Ugly, set for an April 2025 release.
