Akshay Kumar is all set to make his Telugu debut with the mythological action film Kannappa, where he plays the powerful role of Lord Shiva. The film, led by Vishnu Manchu, also features big names like Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Mohan Babu in key roles, giving it major pan-India appeal.
Kannappa is officially slated for release on June 27, 2025.

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film has been trying to generate strong buzz, especially due to its huge star cast.
However, Bollywood trade experts believe Akshay’s performance as Lord Shiva could be one of the film’s biggest highlights. He previously played a similar divine character of Lord Shiva in OMG 2, though it was later toned down due to controversy.

The project also features a mysterious role played by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. In a recent podcast, Vishnu Manchu revealed that Mohanlal’s character was initially dropped but brought back after advice from veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad, father of Baahubali director S.S. Rajamouli.
With Akshay, Prabhas, and Mohanlal all sharing screen space, the battle for spotlight in Kannappa is intense. Fans are now eager to see if Akshay can steal the show in this mythological spectacle.
