Allu Arjun Must Avoid ‘Khichdi' With Atlee

Allu Arjun tested historic success with Pushpa 2 and he’s a big deal in the pan Indian space now. There is a lot riding on his upcoming film with Atlee now and rightly so.

The best thing about Allu Arjun and his filmography has been that he had been making extremely original films, all the while. Particularly in the case of the second part of Pushpa, this extreme commercial film had a lot of originality, and that is the principal reason behind its success.

But when it comes to Atlee this originality is very much lacking. After his debut film, Raja Rani, which was one of the true blue original love dramas in South Indian cinema, all of his subsequent films Theri, Jawaan, and other faces multiple allegations of being cut paste job of other hit films. Mersal with Vijay was different though.

The complaint about Atlee has been that he makes commercial films using the tried and tested techniques of South Indian commercial cinema. It is also alleged that he simply copy pastes hit sequences from other blockbuster South films and incorporates them into one single “Khichdi” of a film.

In the case of Jawaan, this narrative was particularly prevalent. Many people felt this film is an amalgamation of several hit South Indian films. At the end of the day, this film was a massive blockbuster and Atlee was pardon for his sins.

But when it comes to the film with Allu Arjun, who built his career on original films, Atlee will have to be a lot more cautious. If he again faces allegations of “Khichdi”, then Allu Arjun’s reputation might also get tarnished.

More importantly, it is the responsibility of Allu Arjun, who is very vocal with his films, right from scripting to music sittings, to make sure Atlee gets the right work done.
