boycott-laila-movie-is-it-necessary-for-vishwak-sen

Vishwak Sen is back with another quick release, Laila, set for a Valentine’s Day release on February 14. He recently had a release, Mechanic Rocky, which disappointed him. Now, he is back with another entertainer, Laila.

The film’s pre-release event was held last night, with Megastar Chiranjeevi gracing the occasion, which grabbed good attention. These days, generating pre-release buzz for a small film has become a nightmare, as OTT looms as a major threat. Unless a film has chartbuster songs or a viral trailer/teaser, pulling audiences into theaters has become extremely challenging.

At such a time, any sort of unnecessary negativity toward a film should be avoided.

However, in the case of Vishwak Sen’s Laila, comedian 30 Years Prudhvi, in his style took a dig at YSRCP and Jagan, mocking their fall from 151 seats to 11. This satire did not sit well with YCP fans and social media supporters, who immediately started posting negative comments and trending the hashtag #BoycottLaila.

As we said, whether such controversies affect a film’s box office performance or not, it is never worth inviting unnecessary trouble for a small film.

This does no good, especially for someone like Prudhvi Raj, who has no support base across political parties. Frequently mocking YSRCP on film stages is unnecessary. There is a time and place for political commentary, and film functions are not one of them. Unfortunately, he is not someone who can generate any buzz for a film through such political jokes.

Hopefully, the producers will realize this and ensure that, next time, whoever hands him the mic instructs him to avoid bringing politics into movie events.
