Actor Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has been named as the Income Tax defaulter in the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

The CAG report stated that Kalyan Ram failed to pay the interest for the delayed filing of returns. The report was tabled in the Telangana Assembly the other day.
The report stated that Kalyan Ram filed the returns for July 2017 to October 2017 belatedly in December 2017 and for February 2018 to March 2018 in April 2018 and July 2018.

The actor paid the tax dues belatedly but didn’t pay the interest on Rs. 11.53 lakh which was levied due to the late filing of returns.
“On this being pointed out, the Department replied (April 2023) that the taxpayer is in the process of reconciling the interest calculation and information on same would be provided,” the report read.

Interestingly, this case is among the top three irregularities noticed in the non-payment of interest by taxpayers.
Secunderabad-based Swamy Ads failed to pay an interest of Rs. 12.32 lakh and Begumpet-based Conneqt Business Solutions failed to pay an interest of Rs. 10.11 lakh.
On the film front, Kalyan Ram was last seen in the film Devil. He is currently working on his next untitled project, which is tentatively called NKR 21.
