Suriya’s highly anticipated film Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1st. With only a few days left until release, the Retro team is actively promoting the movie through interviews on popular YouTube channels.

Recently, Santhosh Narayanan, who composed the music for Retro, revealed in an interview that during a special screening of Laal Singh Chaddha, he told Aamir Khan that the success of that movie would define his own career path.

He considered Laal Singh Chaddha an experimental film and said Aamir Khan was his inspiration. However, the movie unfortunately failed to resonate with audiences.

Santhosh Narayanan believes that Retro falls into a similarly experimental zone. He feels that if the film performs well, it could open new doors for his music career.

Following this, some netizens on social media began trolling the notion that directors only attempt experimental genres when working with Suriya, citing examples such as Siruthai Siva’s historical film Kanguva and Selvaraghavan’s political drama NGK with Suriya.

Nevertheless, Retro has generated massive expectations among audiences, and it remains to be seen whether it lives up to the hype and becomes a blockbuster success on May 1st.
