The film opened at ¥8 million (USD 50K) on Day 1, surpassing Salaar at ¥5.5 million and Jawan at ¥4.75 million. With 3,700 footfalls, it emerged as the third biggest opening for an Indian film in Japan, after RRR at ¥9.14 million and Saaho.

Although it was strong at the numbers game, Kalki 2898 AD fetched only a 3/5 rating at Eiga and Yahoo Movies, below the 4+ ratings the movie RRR and Baahubali drew; thus, one can say it would have been only lukewarmly received on the market end.
