Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD was one of the biggest films of 2024 and bolstered the worldwide box office by collecting over 1000 crores, according to producers.
While the film had a successful outing at the box office, it was not liked by the majority of viewers given Prabhas’ performance and overall sloppy plot of the film.

Nag Ashwin revealed that the second installment of the film will be released soon but it seems that even the filmmaker is not interested in making the second part with full enthusiasm and confidence.
Alia Bhatt is reportedly in talks with Nag Ashwin for a feature film before starting the shooting of Kalki’s sequel. The renowned filmmaker wants to collaborate with Alia Bhatt in his upcoming venture which aims to be close to his heart.

As fans were not heavily interested in watching Kalki’s sequel, the filmmaker himself moved on to another project before making the sequel. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt is currently working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in her upcoming film Love & War.
She will be sharing the screen alongside Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial which is expected to be wrapped by October.

As Nag Ashwin looks to start shooting for Kalki’s sequel in the second half of 2026, he would look to wrap up his next project with Alia before that.
If everything fits right, Alia Bhatt looks to have a huge lineup ahead of herself as she will be appearing in Alpha, Love & War, Maddock’s horror-comedy Chamunda, and now a Nag Ashwin directorial.
It remains to be seen how things go from here and how the hype of Kalki will be affected by this project in the upcoming months.
