L2 Empuraan OTT

Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan is gearing up for a big-screen release on March 27, and there’s growing buzz about its potential run in Hindi markets.

Initially, there were doubts about whether the film would secure a release in national multiplex chains. However, with PVR actively promoting it and the OTT deal still open, the chances now seem promising.

This suggests that the makers have agreed to the clause of releasing the film on OTT only after eight weeks from its theatrical release date.

Unlike some Tamil biggies like Vijay’s GOAT, Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, and others, which refused to agree to this clause and were subsequently rejected by multiplexes, L2: Empuraan might secure a big release in national multiplex chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis across the country.

This also shows that the makers are confident about their project and are in no hurry for its OTT premiere.

The excitement for L2: Empuraan is building as the film’s advance bookings are set to open in India on March 21, 2025. Pre-sales worldwide have already crossed 12 crore, as per Sacnilk, setting a new record for a Malayalam film outside India. Markets like Australia have shown impressive numbers.

Empuraan is also making history as the first Malayalam film to be released in IMAX. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, and international actor Jerome Flynn.

Suddenly, the buzz around L2: Empuraan has picked up. The big question now is whether it can surpass Manjummel Boys, which holds the record for the highest-grossing Malayalam film with a worldwide total of around 240 crore.
