Vishwak Sen is going through a rough phase, struggling with back-to-back flops. Over the past year, he has released four films—Gaami, Gangs of Godavari, Mechanic Rocky, and the latest Laila. While Gaami did okay, Gangs of Godavari fizzled out after decent openings but was heavily criticized for its content.

Mechanic Rocky ended up as a box office disaster. Now, Laila has taken things to a whole new level, receiving a disastrous talk from the very first show.

However, right from the beginning, there were no expectations for Laila, and the negative talk only added to its downfall. The film is expected to wrap up with less than 6 crores gross worldwide, making it a huge financial disaster.

Producer Sahu Garapati of Shine Screens reportedly invested around 20 crores, trusting Vishwak Sen and the director to deliver a youthful entertainer.

Unfortunately, that decision backfired as the film turned out to be unwatchable, wasting both money and resources.

More than the film’s content, Vishwak Sen’s off-screen attitude seems to be the biggest reason for the backlash. His behavior, often mistaken for arrogance, has created a section of people waiting to pull him down.

Though Mechanic Rocky was a disaster, there wasn’t much in the film to attack him over. But with Laila, he has walked right into a trap, giving people the perfect opportunity to troll him mercilessly. People are reacting as if they haven’t seen a more third-class film than Laila.

If an unknown actor had starred in Laila, it might have gone unnoticed like many other B-grade films in Telugu cinema. The outrage seems amplified only because it’s Vishwak Sen.

The aftermath of Laila will surely affect his next film, Funky, directed by Anudeep. The film looks promising and could provide a much-needed comeback, but the damage is done.

Every promotional move for Funky will be under heavy scrutiny, as the team will have to work extra hard to erase Laila’s negative impact.




They need to ensure that all marketing materials give off a fresh and positive vibe—any misstep could further agitate the audience.
