The Malayalam Cinema industry is shaking with the resurgence of the Me Too Movement. This happened after the Hema Committee which was formed to assess the impact of male filmmakers on female cine workers, reported that female actresses and workers are indeed affected by “commitments” that are demanded by men.
Incidentally, the CM of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan himself has started to work on this matter as a Special Investigation Team, headed by female IPS officer Sparjan Kumar is set to be commissioned. This team will bring out more details about the oppression on female individuals in Malayalam cinema.

Incidentally, Malayalam Film Academy Chairman, and filmmaker Ranjith quit his post recently after a Bengali actress stated that the director misbehaved with her while approaching her with a film offer in 2009.
The Me Too movement in the Malayali film industry has led to such serious repercussions that the chief minister of the state himself had to react. The commissioning of the SIT on this matter is a result of the same.

Incidentally, several Mallu actresses have been coming forward and speaking about the problematic incidents that they faced in the film industry. This could be regarded as a new phase of the Me Too movement.
