Pushpa 2: The Rule became India’s biggest blockbuster with over 1,800 crores in collections, according to producers. So, when it premiered on Star Maa, many expected huge TRP ratings.
The channel did heavy promotions with interviews of Sukumar, DSP, and others. But despite all the buildup, the TRP was just 12.61, which is decent but not at all matching the film’s box office success.

For comparison, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo had 29.4, Pushpa: The Rise had 22.5, and even DJ got 21.7. Shockingly, Pushpa 2’s number is close to Naa Peru Surya (12.5), a flop.
It clearly shows that TV audiences are not as excited as before. OTT platforms and piracy are big reasons. People prefer watching films without ads, at their convenience, with rewind and forward options.

Even on OTT when it premiered in January 2025, Pushpa 2 didn’t perform as expected. Though many watched it in the beginning, it didn’t create much buzz or trend like Pushpa 1.
Allu Arjun might have expected a global wave like RRR, but it didn’t happen. The film had a grand box office run, but it lacked long-term impact on OTT and TV.

In short, Pushpa 2 was a hit in theaters but didn’t connect much after that. It faded into silence very soon, with no significant cultural impact beyond its theatrical success.
For a movie that made so much money, its poor response on TV and OTT is disappointing for Allu Arjun. This may also affect satellite rights value in the future, which is worrying for producers.
