kubera-is-releasing-not-coolie-yet-who-is-gonna-tell-nagarjuna

Akkineni Nagarjuna who has been going through a rough patch in his career is finally back in the limelight — and not with just one film, but two at the same time.

His first release, Shekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa with a unique backdrop is hitting screens this Friday. At the same time, he’s also part of Coolie, the much-anticipated action film directed by Tamil industry’s most happening filmmaker, Lokesh Kanagaraj which is slated for release on August 15th.

However, what’s surprising — and frankly, a bit concerning — is Nagarjuna’s promotional approach.

With Kuberaa just days from release, Nagarjuna oddly seems more enthusiastic about Coolie, going by his recent interviews.

He’s hyping up Lokesh, discussing the director’s working style, his own role, and going on at length about the film — while Kuberaa, the film that needs all the attention right now, is getting sidelined, and social media is spreading his Coolie shorts all over.

What’s even more unusual is that neither Lokesh Kanagaraj nor Rajinikanth, the lead of Coolie, have spoken much about the film yet. And here we have Nagarjuna, already revealing key details — including the fact that he’s playing an anti-hero — information that’s quickly being picked up by web and social media, which in turn is diluting the promotional impact of Kuberaa.

It’s clear that this feedback hasn’t reached Nagarjuna yet, as he’s continuing the same talking points across multiple interviews.

One would hope someone from the team steps in and asks him to pause the Coolie talk, at least until Kuberaa has had its moment. There’s plenty of time to promote Coolie later — but right now, his focus should be on Kuberaa.
