Thandel has had a fantastic run in the Telugu states, maintaining steady growth through the weekend despite mixed reviews. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s chemistry has worked wonders for the Telugu audience, ensuring solid footfalls.

If Monday holds strong, breakeven looks possible within the first week or at least by the second weekend.
However, Thandel’s Hindi run is an outright disaster. Unlike Karthikeya 2, which did superb business in the North, this film has been completely rejected. The jingoistic second half and jail sequences failed to connect with the Hindi audience, leading to poor word of mouth.

The Hindi-dubbed film opened to a shocking 12 lakhs net on Friday, followed by 10 lakhs on Saturday. Even Sunday, the best day so far, brought in just 15 lakhs, confirming the film’s total rejection in the Hindi market. It’s unlikely to cross 1 crore net in its lifetime with a maximum share of 40-50 lakhs.
While Thandel provides much-needed success for Chay in Telugu, his pan-India ambitions have crashed. The lack of a devotional angle like Karthikeya 2 and an unappealing India-Pakistan narrative contributed to its failure in Hindi.
