thandel-north-america-collection-poor-first-weekend

Thandel North America collection has been underwhelming as the film, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi is now playing in U.S. theatres. While the critical reviews are in, the commercial performance in the Telugu states will become clearer in the coming days, with the crucial Monday test yet to come.

By late Sunday evening, around 10 PM, the film had grossed approximately $650K, a disappointing figure for a film like Thandel.

Saturday’s performance had already signaled trouble, with the film earning well under $200K on that day, indicating early struggles.

By the end of its first weekend, Thandel is expected to finish with around $665K. This raises questions about whether it will even reach the $1 million mark in its full run.

To hit $1 million, the film would need to earn an additional $350K in its second weekend, which under normal circumstances wouldn’t be a big deal. However, given the current trend, it is uncertain whether Thandel will cross the $1 million mark during its lifetime run.

Even in the best-case scenario, Thandel might close at around $1.1 million—still far from the break-even point. For a film featuring stars like Sai Pallavi and Naga Chaitanya, backed by a big production house like Geetha Arts, and with an unique backdrop, this North America performance is undoubtedly disappointing for everyone involved.
