Nani's HIT 3

This year, the Telugu film industry had high hopes for a strong summer with films like The Raja Saab, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Vishwambhara, Robinhood, Kingdom, Jack, and others. While Raja Saab, HHVM, Kingdom, and Vishwambhara got postponed, others flopped badly.

The usual excitement among audiences also went for a toss due to continuous bad films. The severe summer heat is making things worse, and the ongoing IPL season has taken a major toll on box office collections. These three are the biggest threats for Telugu movies right now.

Still, there’s a strong belief that a good movie can pull crowds to theaters.

Last week, two films — Odela 2 and Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi — were released. However, both flopped badly at the box office. This week too, there is little hope from Saranga Pani Jatakam.

Only Nani’s Hit 3, releasing on May 1, is generating some anticipation. This film is also being seen as a key indicator of whether the IPL is truly hurting the industry.

The Hit franchise already has two successful entries — Hit 1 and Hit 2 — which received a good reception. Naturally, there’s some curiosity for Hit 3.

The teaser and trailer for Hit 3 have hinted at a completely new side of Nani. Also known for his effective promotional strategies, Nani has started promotions early. He has even visited Mumbai and planned a 10-day promotional tour in North India. The goodwill of Nani is also adding to the buzz.

If Hit 3 doesn’t perform well despite positive word of mouth, then it will raise serious questions. It could confirm that the IPL is indeed affecting theater footfalls.

In many ways, Hit 3 is more than just another release for Nani — it has become a litmus test for the entire industry.

If it succeeds, it could kickstart the belated summer box office season. The outcome of Hit 3 might influence producers’ strategies and shift the overall mindset within the industry.
