After years of lackluster box office performances, Kamal Haasan made a smashing comeback with Vikram, which grossed 65 crores worldwide on its first day and approximately 450 crores during its lifetime. Now, he is coming up with Indian 2, directed by the legendary Shankar.
The anticipation for Indian 2 is peaking at the right moment. After a slow start, advance bookings have surged in Tamil Nadu, the Telugu states, and even in Hindi-speaking regions.

Following the success of Indian/Hindustani in 1996, Kamal Haasan and Shankar are reuniting for its sequel, Hindustani 2/Indian 2 which will release in Hindi on nearly 2000 screens across North India.
As of Thursday at 8 PM, Hindustani 2 has sold around 3000 tickets in the top 3 national chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis – and is projected to sell 5000 to 6000 tickets in multiplexes by the end of the day.

Better ticket sales are expected on the day of release, especially in single screens. Positive early reviews could drive a significant increase in night show ticket sales, particularly in tier 2 centers, which often support commercial vigilante films.
The first day for Hindustani 2 is expected to bring in around Rs 3 crore, with the film’s success hinging on word-of-mouth reviews.

Indian 2 aims for a global opening of Rs 55 crore. With director Shankar’s previous hits like Robot, 2.0, Nayak, Sivaji, and Aparichit, his name recognition in Hindi-speaking regions could boost ticket sales on Friday.
While Indian 2 is poised to have a stronger start than Vikram in Hindi-speaking regions, whether it will surpass Vikram’s overall first-day collection of 65 crores worldwide gross will depend heavily on word-of-mouth.
