Alla Nani will be joining the Telugu Desam Party in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu later today.
Alla Nani has been the source of strength for Congress and YSR Congress Parties in Eluru for more than twenty years. After coming to power in 2019, Jagan made Alla the Deputy Chief Minister and the Health Minister.

Despite getting ample opportunities, Alla struggled to stay in the party for at least three months after losing power. He resigned in August and since then has been trying to join the Telugu Desam Party.
His joining got delayed due to stiff resistance from the TDP cadres.

Under Nani’s leadership, not only the TDP cadres but also many second-rung leaders of the YSR Congress suffered. Many of them left the YSR Congress and joined the TDP before the 2024 elections.
Now, that group and the native TDP leaders and cadres are strictly opposing his joining.

Some of the TDP cadres allege that Nani got their houses attacked and even demolished some of them for being his Opposition.
Alla was supposed to join the party in December but hours before the joining, TDP leaders met Atchannaidu and complained. His joining was postponed at the last minute.
TDP MLA of Eluru, Badeti Radha Krishnayya is a first-time MLA. The party should empower Badeti’s leadership instead of creating another power center in the constituency.
The party’s high command can say they are weakening the YSR Congress by admitting leaders like Alla Nani.
But then, Alla Nani has Congress DNA for years together. He joined YSR Congress in 2013 after resigning from Congress.
After he lost the 2014 elections, Jagan made him an MLC in 2017. After winning in 2019, he was made the Deputy CM and the Health Minister.
Despite Jagan giving him ample opportunities, Alla left the party just two months after the defeat.
What is the guarantee that he will not leave TDP just before the 2029 elections?
