Last year on this day, on 13 May 2024, the Indian general elections and the Legislative elections were held simultaneously in Andhra Pradesh.

In Andhra Pradesh, the NDA alliance led by Chandrababu Naidu won 164 out of 175 seats, a huge majority with a strike rate of 93 percent.

The TDP contested 144 seats and won 135 seats.

This is a never-before Mandate given in the history of Andhra Pradesh. There is nothing like the 93% Strike rate even in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh as well.

Whose credit is this?

TDP, as the major partner, will naturally claim the credit.

Janasena Supporters do not agree and will remind how they registered a 100% Strike Rate in their 21 seats.

The BJP will say the Central Government’s Support played a crucial role in ending a tyrannical rule.

But the fact is that neither will get the credit completely.

It is the people who deserve the credit the most.

Between 2019 and 2024, Andhra Pradesh has seen a mockery of democracy. We have a Government that stifles the voices of the Opposition or any dissent. The Government believed people could be bought with freebies like cattle at village fairs.

People feared talking in open about what they liked and what they did not.

They were taking money from the schemes, they were going to so-called Siddham Meetings, and they were talking to leaders in Gadapa Gadapaku as if nothing had happened.

YSR Congress and its ecosystem are in an illusion that they are winning comfortably, and the Opposition is on its toes.

No one knows that people are delivering a sensational mandate when they stood in queues on May 13th, 2024.

Even most successful Psephologists like AARAA Masthan were misguided by the people.

At the end, history is created.

People of Andhra Pradesh should get the credit for this election, where they displayed tremendous maturity.

They sent in a message that not just freebies, development, jobs, and infrastructure matter the most.

They sent a message that they would not tolerate arrogance at any cost and defeated each and every one who displayed high-headedness.

Elections may come and go. Victories small or big may happen. But this election will be a special one in the History Books.
