HYDRAA has been a hot topic of discussion in Telangana recently due to its ongoing demolition of structures built on lakes and water bodies.
At first, the initiative received a lot of praise, but when it started demolishing the homes of poor people living near water bodies, public opinion changed, and people began protesting against its actions.

Recently, Praja Shanti Party President, KA Paul, filed a petition against HYDRAA in the Telangana High Court. The magistrate heard the petition today.
KA Paul attended the hearing in person and requested the High Court to order HYDRAA to carry out demolitions only after getting legalized.

He also said that notices should be given to people 30 days before demolishing structures near water bodies. Additionally, he appealed to the court to place a stay on GO number 99.
After hearing the case, the High Court stated that it was not possible to stop HYDRAA’s demolitions immediately. Meanwhile, it ordered the case’s defendants, HYDRAA and the government of Telangana, to file a counter-petition. The next hearing has been postponed to October 10.
