The Budameru Rivulet in Vijayawada was badly hit by the recent heavy rainfall in the city. Due to the constant rains, the rivulet was breached, resulting in the overflowing of floodwater into the nearby areas.
As a result, areas around Budameru were submerged in water. The government has relentlessly performed rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit regions to help flood victims. Even the Budameru breaches were successfully sealed by the officials.

Speaking to the media today in Vijayawada, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Narayana, stated that the government had efficiently distributed water and food to the victims without any hassles. He also confirmed that proper sanitation measures were being taken in the affected areas.
Narayana informed the media that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to continue offering food to flood victims until they are fully recovered.

He also revealed that around 77,000 electricity connections had been restored in the flood-hit areas so far and advised residents not to consume water of these regions for the next two days.
Narayana said that stringent action will be taken against the illegal encroachments on Budameru and added that CM Naidu plans to start ‘Operation Budameru’ regarding the same soon.
