Dhoolpet Holi Special: Ganja Kulfis

Holi is a festival when thandai and bhaang are part of the festivities. But this year, the police found a new way through which ganja was being sold to customers.

STF raids showed some surprising developments. This year’s catch included ganja ice creams. The special forces busted an ice cream business in Dhoolpet’s Malchipura.

One Satyanarayana Singh was found selling ganja kulfis in the guise of Holi dessert. The Special Task Force seized 100 kulfis, 72 burfis and silver coated balls. The police found that Satyanarayana Singh made the ice cream and sweets with ganja.

Excise Enforcement Director Kamalasan Reddy congratulated the team that seized the ice creams and sweets. A kilogram of ganja is sold between Rs 50,000 and Rs 70,000 in the retail market.

About 10 days back, ganja was seized near Tellapur in Sangareddy district. Like in the movies, the ganja was being smuggled in septic tanker, worth Rs 1 crore. About 200 kilos of ganja was seized.




The Excise department is being quite vigilant, but the peddlers are finding innovative methods to hoodwink officials.
