Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s visit to Kakinada port sent shock waves across the state. During the inspection, he highlighted that the PDS rice was being smuggled and ordered the seizure of the Stella ship carrying the rice.
Now, the District Collector Shan Mohan has announced the ship has been seized and order d thorough investigation into the source of rice found aboard the Stella ship. The authorities suspect that the rice is being illegally transported.

Addressing the media alongside District SP Vikrant Patil, the Collector stated they would identify the exporter and trace the rice back to its originating godown.
“We will investigate how rice meant for the poor was transported from the godown to the ship in Kakinada Port. We will examine whether it belongs to the poor people’s quota,” Shan Mohan explained.

To ensure a comprehensive probe, a five-member disciplinary team, comprising officials from Revenue, Police, Customs, Civil Supplies Department, and the Port Authority, is being constituted. This team will inspect every load and trace its origin.
Additionally, the Collector mentioned that procedures for these inspections are being established to ensure thoroughness.
