Courts Not Interfering In Social Media Cases

There has been a crackdown on abusive Social Media users across the state in the last few days. Those posting morphed content and abuses on women and children are being arrested and cases are being registered.

More than 60 YSR Congress Social Media workers were arrested and their cases are in various stages.

YSR Congress leaders like Posani, Sri Reddy, and Ram Gopal Varma who fed filth are also on the radar. Sri Reddy pleaded for mercy while Posani announced retirement from politics. Only Ram Gopal Varma is trying to put up a brave face despite being very scared.

YSR Congress is trying to escape from these cases using loopholes in the Law.

Journalist Vijay Babu who was made the RTI Commissioner and AP Official Languages Commission Chairman during Jagan’s regime filed a PIL in the High Court to declare social media cases as illegal.

The High Court refused to entertain the PIL and clarified that the filth on social media should be cleansed.

The court observed that the PIL was politically motivated and dismissed it, imposing a fine of ₹50,000 on Vijay Babu.

APCID registered a case against YSR Congress Social Media Incharge Sajjala Bhargava Reddy for an organized network of social media.

After the High Court refused to interfere, Bhargava Reddy approached the Supreme Court to not allow these cases.

After hearing the case, Justice Surya Kant said, “We have no sympathy for anyone and if wrong is done they have to face the law”.

These abusers often use ‘Freedom of Speech’ and try to escape from the nonsense they do on social media. It is good that courts are refusing to entertain such people and are not giving them any relief. This means the filth will be cleaned soon and social media will be a better place soon.

Earlier, there were cases also registered on some YSR Congress Social Media workers for abusing the courts. So the judiciary is also aware.
