The Andhra Pradesh government is set to restart the Anna Canteens in the state. The initiative was introduced by the Telugu Desam Party during their 2014-19 regime.

However, after YCP came into power in 2019, they removed Anna Canteens across the state. Now, after reclaiming power this year, the NDA government is bringing back the canteens.

Meanwhile, the government issued notices regarding the opening of the Anna Canteens. In the first phase, 100 Anna Canteens will be opened on August 15 in different areas.

83 canteens will be opened in the second phase and 20 canteens will be opened in the third phase later this year. On the whole, the government is set to open a total of 203 Anna Canteens in these three phases.

Hare Krishna Foundation will be supply food for these 203 Anna Canteens. They will be providing breakfast as well as lunch.

On August 15, apart from the inauguration of 100 Anna Canteens, the government is also set to start a free ride scheme for women.

These were among the key promises made by the alliance of TDP-JSP-BJP during the elections and they fulfilled the promises within two months of coming into power.
