Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani’s case has taken a significant turn, with the government suspending three IPS officers involved: former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, Kanti Rana Tata, and Vishal Gunni. These three officers played crucial roles during YS Jagan’s administration.

Reportedly, this is only the second instance in Indian political history where IAS or IPS officers have been suspended, the first being the Sohrabuddin encounter case in Gujarat. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu signed the suspension orders for the three officers.

It is not easy for any state government to suspend IAS or IPS officers, but the TDP government conducted a formal inquiry after receiving a complaint from actress Jethwani against the officers. Following the investigation, the government suspended them after finding sufficient evidence.

The officers were found guilty of a seemingly minor mistake. Before YSRCP leader Kukkala Vidhyasagar filed a complaint against Jethwani, the IPS officers had already booked a flight one day in advance to take her into custody. According to the suspension order, PSR Anjaneyulu summoned two other IPS officers to the CMO and instructed them to take Jethwani from Mumbai, showing a lack of due diligence.

The government made this decision due to allegations of abuse of power. The DGP had previously suspended Ibrahimpatnam CI Satyanarayana and ACP Hanumantha Rao. Based on the DGP’s report, the three IPS officers were also dismissed.

The individuals in power acted as they saw fit, and now they face the consequences. In the past, IAS officers were imprisoned during the YSR government for their involvement in corruption. Those currently in service should learn from these incidents, understanding what they should and should not do in their roles.
