Jagan Stone-Pelting Case

The stone-pelting attack against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was one of the most attention-grabbing events during the campaigning for the 2024 general elections.

Jagan was hit by a stone while participating in the “Memantha Siddham” campaign rally at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada, on April 13.

The police identified the culprit as Satish, who belongs to the Vaddera community. He was arrested just a few days after the incident and has been in jail for over six weeks.

Meanwhile, Satish filed a bail petition and the inquiry for this bail petition took place earlier today at Vijayawada’s 8th Additional District Court.

Advocate Salim, representing Satish, argued that Satish was innocent and had been wrongfully involved by the police.

After hearing the arguments, the magistrate reserved the verdict, which is expected to be announced on Tuesday (tomorrow).

The stone-pelting incident was in the headlines in Andhra politics for many days. While the YCP portrayed it as an attempted murder, many people on social media viewed it as an election stunt, similar to the Kodi Kathi case.




Meanwhile, the polling for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh was completed on May 13 and the results will be declared on June 4.
