Telangana Jagruthi Round Table Meet was held at the Somajiguda Press Club regarding the problems for Telangana due to the construction of Polavaram Project.

Kalvakuntla Kavitha who is the president of Telangana Jagruthi and BRS MLC was the chief guest at the Meet. She said the five villages included in Andhra Pradesh must be returned to Telangana as the people are suffering due to this. Purushottapatnam, Gundala, Ettapaka, Kannayagudem, Pichukalapaka are the five villages.

On June 25, the Prime Minister is holding a Meet with the CMs of Telangana, Odisha, Chattisgarh and AP under the title Pragati Agenda, she said. Kavitha demanded that Revanth Reddy put pressure on the PM for the return of 5 villages.

She alleged that due to Polavaram, there is a problem of deluge for the Bhadrachalam area. She said in case of floods, all five villages will be drowned.

Kavitha pointed out that 1000 acres of endowments land belonging to Bharachalam temple was added to AP, though the temple is in Telangana. She said a joint survey has to be taken up regarding deluge due to Polavaram.

She said they were willing to take legal action on the matter. Kavitha also said that Modi gave away 7 mandals to AP due to back door politics during his first Cabinet meeting. She reminded that this was against the reorganisation act and Constitution’s spirit. Kavitha said they raised a voice about it in the Parliament back then.

Though KCR called for a bandh, the Center did not relent, said Kavitha.




Kavitha said AP had increased the slip way capability of Polavaram to 50 lakh cusecs, which will create backwater problem for Telangana. The BRS MLC said there is a possibility of Bhadrachalam Rama temple being drowned if AP goes ahead with its plan.
