Konda Surekha Attends Court in Nagarjuna Defamation Case

Telangana minister Konda Surekha presented herself before the Nampally Special Court. In the past, actor Akkineni Nagarjuna had filed a defamation petition against her for making objectionable comments about him and his family.

Surekha is to give her version before the special judge as the petition hearing is on. The court has already procured information from Nagarjuna’s family members.

Nagarjuna’s counsel Ashok Reddy had argued in the past that the family was subject to mental trauma due to her comments.

He had argued that being in a responsible position, Surekha made such derogatory comments that were fit for criminal charges.

On the other hand, Surekha’s lawyer Gurpreet Singh argued that she had said sorry for her hasty comments. However, Ashok Reddy maintained what was spoken to media and what was submitted in court did not match.

As the arguments are going on, Surekha had said she couldn’t attend the court in person as she was caught up with government activities.

Finally, she attended the court in person today and gave her version.




After making the comments that resulted in severe backlash, Surekha retracted her comments. She tweeted to Samantha saying she respected her individuality and her rise as a star. Surekha also said she was sorry if she hurt the sentiments of Nagarjuna family and Akkineni fans.
