Somu Veerraju Nomination

Probably, this is one of costliest nomination during MLC elections. The nomination of Somu Veerraju had many twists and turns and is an engaging incident.

While the B-Form came in a special flight, the BJP AP chief Purandareswari flew down in a special flight from New Delhi, to enable Somu Veerraju’s nomination. The candidate himself rushed from Rajamahendravaram to Amaravati to take the form and file the MLC nomination.

It appears to be the costliest nomination for MLC polls. The final time to file nomination was 3pm due to which such rush took place.

Apart from the candidate, the A,B forms issued by the party for candidate’s nomination were not available in Andhra Pradesh.

However, there were two forms in Telangana BJP office. Taking them, the incharge TVSN Raj flew to Gannavaram in a special flight. The BJP AP chief Purandareswari was in New Delhi for Parliamentary sessions.

Wondering if she will reach on time, the BJP gave authorisation to AP BJP state chief secretary Kasi Viswanatha Raju. Raju who was on his way to Eluru at the time was told about it on phone.

He cut short his trip, went to the airport, collected the forms and reached the Assembly.

Though Purandareswari was on her way, it was unclear if she will reach on time. So, Kasi Viswanatha Raju signed on the A,B forms. They were attached to Somu Veerraju’s nomination form and submitted.

By the time the nomination process ended, Purandareswari reached Assembly. After a brief chit chat with BJP MLAs, they went and met CM Chandrababu, who wished Somu Veerraju.

Meanwhile, Somu reached Amaravati and checked his papers and filed the nomination with the returning officer 14 minutes before the time ended. Somu Veerraju filed his nomination at 2.46 pm.




So, this makes Somu Veerraju’s nomination rather special and costly too!
