MPs Get Salary Hikes

The Center has announced salary and allowance hike for MPs. The MPs will now be getting Rs 1.24 lakh instead of Rs 1 lakh. The daily allowance has been hiked from Rs 2000 to Rs 2500.

The government also issued a notification hiking the pension from Rs 25,000 to Rs 31,000. For ex MPs the new increase will be applicable from April 1, 2023.

The Center has given a 24% hike in the salaries and pensions. The notification has been issued by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

Extra pension for every year of service beyond five years has been increased from Rs 2000 to Rs 2500.

This marks the first revision since 2018. During the last revision, Rs 1 lakh was set as the salary along with Rs 70,000 as allowances to interact with voters in constituencies and office expenses.

MPs also get additional perks for phone usage and internet usage, 34 free domestic flights for their families and themselves, unlimited first-class train travel and a mileage allowance for road travel.

The MPs get 50,000 units of free electricity, 4000 kilo-liters of water annually and government-provided housing in New Delhi.




Housing allowance is given to those who for some reason don’t stay in official houses.
