The incident involving YSRCP cadres pelting stones at then opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu, which took place during his visit to projects in Annamaiya district, has marked its one-year anniversary by today. During this unfortunate event, the police, who were supposed to prevent the violence, instead filed an illegal attempt to murder case against Chandrababu.
Severe charges, including attempted murder, were registered against TDP members, some of whom were not even in the state on the day of the incident. These individuals were jailed for 45 days, while YSRCP leaders, who instigated the clash, faced only bailable charges.

Approximately 750 TDP leaders and workers from Tamballapalle, Peeleru, and Madanapalle constituencies experienced harassment through these cases. Despite it being a year since the Angallu incident, no chargesheet has been filed, which typically should be done within 90 days. The investigation remains incomplete, and many of those accused by YSRCP leaders were unjustly imprisoned.
Meanwhile, the police officers involved have since been transferred. This situation reflects the significant political tension and the use of legal mechanisms to harass opposition members, highlighting a concerning aspect of the state’s political and judicial processes.
