Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy Mithun Reddy

The YSR Congress Party (YCP) holds only 11 seats in the Assembly and four seats in Parliament currently. The party has lost its status as the main opposition as well.

Now, there are growing rumors of YCP MPs potentially joining the BJP. Jammalamadugu BJP MLA Adi Narayana Reddy made significant comments that YSRCP MPs are looking at joining BJP.

He said that YCP MP Mithun Reddy is already lobbying with senior national BJP leaders. He added that barring YS Avinash Reddy, all three YCP MPs will most likely join BJP.

Despite not receiving a positive response from the BJP yet, YCP MPs reportedly continue their efforts to make this switch.

Adi Narayana Reddy also mentioned that Mithun Reddy is pressuring his father, Peddireddy, to join the BJP.

Mithun Reddy is the son of YSR Congress’s Strong Man, Peddireddy. If Peddireddy and Mithun Reddy leaves YSR Congress, it will be a big shock to the party in Rayalaseema and especially in Chittoor district.

In the 2019 elections, YCP had won 22 parliamentary seats while TDP had secured three. The YCP had often played a key bills at the centre while passing bills, with its 11 Rajya Sabha seats playing a crucial role in supporting the central government.

Now, the scenario has changed as YCP suffered a humiliating defeat against the alliance of Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party in the recently held elections.
