Temporary Relief For Jani Master

Choreographer Jani Master, who has been serving a jail sentence for the alleged sexual assault of his assistant choreographer, has been granted interim bail.

Jani Master requested the court to grant him bail as he was supposed to receive the National Award on October 8. Upon reviewing his plea, the Ranga Reddy district court granted him interim bail from October 6 to October 10.

In August, the National Award for Best Choreography was announced to Jani Master for the song “Megham Karukatha” from the Tamil film Thiruchitrambalam.

In September, he was arrested when a 21-year-old woman filed a sexual assault case against him. She alleged that Jani Master had been sexually attacking her from the days she was a minor. Thus, a POCSO case was filed against Jani.

The Hyderabad police arrested him a couple of weeks ago in Goa. In Hyderabad, the court ordered a 15-day remand for him. However, it was extended later on. Jani was put under police custody for a few days for questioning. He is currently serving his jail term in Chanchalguda Central Jail.
