The time has come to fortify the air space over Tirumala, the most sacred place of Hindus. During the 5 year YSRCP rule, the security of Tirumala was simply ignored.

Given the present times, it is important to establish drone-tracking technology in Tirumala. In the past, whenever drones flew over Tirumala, the past government said it would bring in anti-drone technology.

In fact, in the past, Tirumala EVSO during Jagan’s time had said that they would bring in and establish the latest Naval Anti Drone System developed by BHEL, Bengaluru. At the time, they said they were waiting for a donor to give money for the equipment costing crores. However, some time later, they set aside the project.

DRDO ex chairman Dr Satish Reddy is the advisor for aerospace and defense to the government of Andhra Pradesh. His advice needs to be taken regarding air security in Tirumala, feel many. TTD chairman BR Naidu has also announced to bring anti-drone technology at the earliest.

Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu has written to the Center to declare Tirumala as a ‘no fly zone’ to stop aeroplanes and drones flying over the Temple.

In 2023, officials from IOCL came for survey and flew drones and took visuals of the Temple. Later, in 2024, one Dinesh from Haryana captured sensitive images of the Temple and the forest. Recently, a Rajasthani YouTuber captured the Temple and surrounding areas.




Each time, the locals complained to the vigilance department and they confiscated the drones. These incidents further highlight the importance of establishing an anti-drone system in Tirumala.
