Air India Hosts DJ Party

Just days after Air India Flight AI171 crashed in Ahmedabad killing nearly 270 people, Air India SATS (AISATS) top brass hosted a DJ party at their Gurugram office and the video has gone viral on social media.

The party was attended by SVP Sampreet Kotian, COO Abraham Zakaria and CFO on June 20. Many families are still waiting for their loved ones’ bodies to be returned.

As of Friday morning, only 202 of the 220 identified bodies have been handed over and several others are still in morgues pending DNA identification.

The timing of the party when funeral pyres are still hot and grief is heavy in homes is being widely condemned as insensitive and tone deaf to the suffering of the families.

It’s even more shocking given the scale of the disaster and the families are still in anguish, many of whom have spoken out about their pain and frustration with the slow process of identification and support.

For the executives of a company so closely associated with aviation to party at such a time not only erodes public trust but also raises questions about corporate empathy and responsibility.

In a time of national mourning, such actions by AISATS leadership are completely out of sync with the mood of the country and will only add to the wounds of those already reeling under unimaginable loss.
