As frustration builds, residents have taken to the streets, staging dharnas and demanding a resolution. The power crisis has triggered strong reactions online, with many accusing the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) of corruption and mismanagement.
Some have called for full privatization of the department, while others highlighted the dangerous consequences of prolonged blackouts, especially for the poor and stray animals, many of whom are reportedly dying from heatstroke.

Amid the protests, former Union Minister and Congress leader Pradeep Jain also joined demonstrators, surrounding the office of the local electric distribution chief. The official blamed the crisis on excessive load and assured efforts to restore normalcy soon.
The growing unrest and makeshift survival tactics, such as living in ATMs, reflect a severe breakdown in basic infrastructure during one of the year’s harshest periods.
