A tragic incident unfolded in Ahmedabad on Monday night when a four-month-old baby girl was mauled to death by a pet Rottweiler at a residential society in Hathijan. The dog, which reportedly broke free from its owner, attacked the infant and her aunt in the society’s common garden area.
According to police, the baby had been taken out by her maternal aunt when a woman brought her Rottweiler downstairs while talking on the phone. The dog suddenly became aggressive and slipped from the owner’s grip, launching a violent attack on the child and her aunt.

Inspector Hitesh Baria confirmed that both victims were rushed to the hospital immediately. However, the baby succumbed to severe injuries, including deep wounds on her neck and skull. Her aunt remains hospitalized.
CCTV footage from the society shows the horrifying moment when the large dog pounced on the infant and her aunt as they sat with others near the garden. The owner’s delayed reaction gave the dog enough time to inflict fatal damage before being restrained.
